Today I’m sharing a fun and scrap-friendly sewing project: a postage stamp quilted pear made from tiny fabric squares. This is a great way to use up your favorite 1.5-inch scraps, which are sewn into 1-inch finished squares to create a classic postage stamp quilt panel. Using a simple pear template, the panel is cut and stitched into a dimensional pear for a unique and eye-catching finish.
For my pear, I used some of my favorite red, white, and blue Tim Holtz fabric scraps, which give it a classic patriotic feel. That said, this design would be just as beautiful in any color palette you love, making it a perfect scrap-buster project for whatever fabrics you have on hand.
In addition to the quilted pear, I’ve also included a complimentary cross-stitch tag design to coordinate with the project. The tag can be finished as shown or adapted as a label or project bag accent.
