You know that if there’s a book involved, I’m instantly smitten—and today’s project is no exception. I created a bright and colorful book-themed birthday card that celebrates all things storybook.
For the background, I decided to foil the cover plate design instead of die cutting it, using a soft opal foil for a touch of shimmer. I also glimmered the coordinating press plate with matte gold foil rather than running it through the BetterPress system. That’s one of my favorite things about press plates—they’re so versatile! You can get stunning results whether you’re using them with the BetterPress or adding shine with foiling.
To bring the detailed image to life, I used the coordinating stencils. They make adding color quick, easy, and absolutely beautiful.

Books play such an important part in our lives starting from when we are born. I guess that is why I love this suite so much. The Forest and Gables and The Twilight Tales releases are perfect for card giving to my grandkids that range form 4 years to 13. They all love books-whether they read them on their own or they pick out books to be read to them. Love the colors you used and the press plate as a background.
