Today I’m sharing a batch of fabric stars I created using Tim Holtz red, white, and blue fabrics, and I’m in love with how rustic and charming they turned out!
For the quilted stars, I used my favorite Patchwork Star pattern from Fig Tree Quilts but gave it a twist—literally! Instead of the usual front-to-front sewing and turning, I layered them back-to-back with batting and lining in between, left a small opening, stuffed them full of wool roving, and stitched them shut by machine. Then, I took my haberdashery scissors to the edges to rough them up for a fun, primitive finish.
The smaller stars were made using these Patriotic Farmhouse Stars, and once all my stars were sewn up, I added Tim Holtz fanciful buttons to the centers—hello, perfect little puff and pop of detail!
These stars are perfect tucked into trays or bowls for the 4th of July or any patriotic holiday. Or try them in your favorite colors for everyday décor, seasonal displays, or even strung on twine or ribbon as a sweet little garland.
Tim Holtz fabrics are just perfect for adding that rustic flair. Hope you love these as much as I do—and wishing everyone here in the U.S. a safe and happy Independence Day!
